Hanna Andersson Roosevelt Field Grand Opening

Thursday night I attended the grand opening of the Hanna Andersson store at the Roosevelt Field  Mall in Garden City, NY. I had a great time! The store looked gorgeous, the staff was super nice, and we even ate delicious cupcakes from The Cupcake Corner. (Finally got the coconut I have been craving, and it was worth the wait!)

Love this train raglan shirt from Hanna Andersson
The clothes are fabulous. You can see just how well crafted they are in the stitching, material and style. The pajamas are even made with organic cotton. I loved how bright and cheerful the colors are and how wild the patterns can get. For girls, they had a variety of clothes, even several different types of dresses. Boys never have as much of a selection as girls, but they were definitely well represented at this store.

I fell in love with the sweatshirt below. It is a steal at $40! It is simple and classic, and it looked so warm and cozy. I will definitely be back to purchase it!

Hanna Andersson sells classic items, like this cozy sweatshirt
With a limited budget, I decided to get this cute turtle romper instead. It is a good example of the crazy colors and patterns that you can find at Hanna Andersson. They also have an unconditional guarantee: If you're unhappy with a product for any reason, just send it back to us and we'll refund the purchase price or replace the item. It's as simple as that. Can't beat that!

Halo sleepsacks! in size Large too!
Hanna Andersson is a great store! The clothes and staff are both awesome. And best of all, they are going to be opening a store at the Walt Whitman Mall! Cannot wait until they are closer to me!

Walking, Walking, Walking!!!

Just a quick note that we have a walker!! While he still does so some crawling, as long as he starts standing and doesn't fall, my "baby" is WALKING! All over the living room, the kitchen, the bedroom... I can't believe it. I don't have video uploaded yet, but here are a few pics of him since it has been so long!

playground time!

cannot stand his cuteness!!

blurry like most of the pictures I take of this boy who never stops moving!

E is for...

E is for Emmett's First Trip to Disneyland!

My favorite picture form this Disneyland trip

We were not expecting to take Emmett to Disneyland until he was at least a year old, maybe even 2 years old... but then Jeff won Disneyland tickets and a 2 night hotel stay, so we went last August, when E. was 4.5 months old. It was a wonderful trip! We were able to ride and see everything we wanted, including the new Little Mermaid attraction and the redone Star Wars attraction.

E and mommy on mommy's favorite ride - Casey Jr.

E. was so well behaved! He only had 2 meltdowns due to tiredness. He slept a lot, as babies that age do! We got to see all of our friends too, including a few who made a special trip to see us <3 He won't remember any of it, but Jeff and I will.

lots of sleeping!
We are going back in a month!!!! Jeff will be participating in something called the Gumball Rally, which is an event to see if you can ride all of the rides in Disneyland in one day! The baby and I will be watching. I can't wait to see all of my friends again, and to be in the place I love the most! I also can't wait to see how E reacts, now that he is so much more aware of what is going on around him.

11 Months Already!

I can't believe that my baby boy is 11 months!!!

forever moving = blurry pictures!

He is finally teething steadily again... 2 teeth are poking through and 2 more are fighting their way out. That means more restless nights for baby sleepless nights for mommy! He is still working on building up the courage to walk on his own, but he is standing more. We are also working on the sippy cup. Slowly but surely. He babbles a lot and says mom and bye bye. He is also clapping! In less than a month he will be a year old... insane.

climbing in his toy box and digging through it is his latest trick!

Sickville

Moved into size 12 mo shirts but still fits into size 6 mo pants...`

Welcome to Sickville, population 3!!! Jeff came home from work Tuesday with a sore throat.... by morning, it was a full fledged cold. He called out Thursday and spent the whole day lying and sleeping on the couch, poor guy! :(  He is on the mend today... Meanwhile, my throat started hurting on Thursday, and today it is in so much pain! I have a slight cold too, as does baby E. A lot of sneezing and nose running from his tiny baby nose!

With all of this lazing about, I have actually started to plan next week's menu. Yes, I must be sick because I am looking forward to cooking this week ?!?! I need to use up some things, so I am thinking chicken pot pie and quiche. I have a hankering for muffins, too, I think I'll make muffins this week and maybe scones next week.

Blog-wise I am working on getting more reviews and giveaways up! Since I took such a long break, I feel like I ma starting all over again almost! But I promise I will have some good stuff up soon. Until then, you can still enter to win a 2 night stay in Estes Park CO!

In exciting news, E. is finally cutting his next 2 teeth! He has been teething on and off since he got his first 2 teeth on Oct 26th. This morning I noticed 2 off to the side that are almost all the way through. So exciting! It has also been a blast to hear how his speech is developing, from the sounds that sound almost like words to now, when he says mama clearly and knows who I am! He is pretty good with saying dada too. and he LOVES to sing! So cute. Hopefully someday I'll be able to get it on video.

Have a great weekend!!!

shopping time!!!

Facebook Freebies for you and your baby

Today, on the Baby Mum-Mum Facebook page they will be giving out "free coupons" so hopefully they are for free products or high value ones. E. LOVES these things - they taste like flavored cardboard to me but hey, as long as he is happy lol! They were actually the first non-puree food he had.

If you're looking for a treat for yourself, today on their Facebook page, Ghirardelli is giving away bars of their new chocolate creation, which is a mystery right now! Mmmmmm!! Wonder what it could be?

Unfortunately, there is no time when either of these are going live, so keep checking back! Good luck :)

Our First Goose Egg

ah, yes, this morning, Emmett got his very first goose egg on his forehead! We had 10 minutes until we had to go to our tax appt. (an hour away, if you remember, plus it was pouring rain). I was carrying him across the bedroom and tripped on the comforter... I fell into the dresser, hit my arm (which still hurts) and skinned my elbow on the edge of the drawers, and poor Emmett went head first into the side of the dresser. He cried and cried, and it was so hreatbreaking! We called the dr., and the nurse said that as long as he cried, wasn't vomiting, his eyes weren't crossed and he had an appetite then he was ok. It was scary for awhile though!

I tried to take a picture tonight, not sure if you can see it. It still is tender for him (I assume, since he doesn't like it when I touch it) but the swelling is down and it is just red. Poor guy!!!

The Insanity Continues!!!

This crazy week goes on...
Tuesday, J and I went to the optometrist... new glasses for both! We went to the Dr. we were supposed to go to last time (instead they had scheduled us with a different one who we didn't like), we we both loved her!! That night we met up w/the in-laws for the pancake supper at church. Yummy!!

Since I have no pics of anything in this post, here are a few of the baby! This was at a playdate on Sunday, and no that is not his toy, silly baby!

Wednesday, we got some shopping and laundry done. Sometimes those days are the busiest! I am proud that I should have to spend very little for food in March. Trying to change our attitude and laziness lol so far so good, I think.  Menu plan went awry when I forgot to defrost the chicken. Oopsie lol but we did use up a few odds nad ends so that was good.

We also did some more babyproofing this week... he screamed when he realized he couldn't get in the coffee table anymore, but he hasn't tried since!
Today was city day!! We saw a taping of The Chew and yes, Clinton Kelly is just as gorgeous in person!! We had to dress up all fancy because it was for the Oscar show. And i got blisters :( The sohw airs tomorrow, Friday, we will be on TV! We got a lot of great swag, including one of Wolfgang Puck's chocolate Oscars, coated in 24k gold! Only available at the Oscar afterparty. Pic below. For lunch, we ate at The Palm using a gift card I won a few years ago from NYC Single Mom. The food was good, and we only had to pay for our drinks, sweet!!!

So pretty. So edible! 24k gold dusted chocolate Oscar, thank you Wolfgang Puck!
and I want to mention that the train home was packed, and a nice man let me sit by him, which was wonderful for my feet, and I had a good time listening to him chatter. I was surprised that someone actually offered up a seat to a woman! (It was an extra eat - but he did offer to stand so Jeff could sit next to me!)

Tomorrow, Friday, we are getting our taxes done. wooo. It will be an adventure as always. Our wonderful tax gal is an hour away, and so we go to the mall and eat at Bobby's Burger Palace and make a short day of it. However, Jeff realized that we had a gift certificate to John Harvard's Brew House so we are going there.

And that is why I have not updated in 4 days!!!! LOL

I will leave you with a pic of Baby E (hardly a baby anymore!) and his new trick - he has added to his "puss" face (pursing his lips and blowing up his cheeks). He now also closes one eye, so I have dubbed it the pirate puss. He is seriously the cutest and funniest baby EVER!!!!

Cracks me up every. time!

Happy 6 Months!!!

I cannot believe Baby E is 6 months old today!! It seems like forever ago that he was born. And he  is changing right before my eyes!

the day after he was born

All of the sudden he is rolling over, both ways, all the time. He sits up on his own, unassisted and not bearing weight on his hands, for quite a few minutes. He always wants to sit up so he can see what is going on (just like his mom lol!) and still loves to stand. he is getting so tall, to me at least, he is almost a head taller than the bottom of the rocking chair.

being silly with his Mickey

He's in his crib for night and naps now - unswaddled totally! And he always ends up against the rails.

friends guardinh him while he sleeps
He hasn't started "army crawling" yet but I am sure that will be soon. He can turn himself around and around to get to where he wants to go. He can push himself up to standing and to sitting.

still loves eating his feet too

He LOVES eating, loves all of the fruit and veggies he has eaten except peas and squash.  He is also teething... lots of drool and some crankiness.

first food... bananas

And still always moving! So laid back in the womb... so active today!

I love this kid so much and can't really imagine life without him!  Happy 6 months sweet boy!

6 months!!!

My Favorite Five Month Old...

It's so funny that July drrrraaaaagggggeeeeed on and on but August was over in a snap, mostly due to my parents being here a week and spending 5 days at Disneyland!!

Last Thursday Baby E was 5 months old! On Monday he went in for his 5 moth checkup. (Our dr does appts every month for the first 6 and gives shots at 5 of those 6 appts!) His stats: 15 lb.11 oz.and 24 inches; 40th percentile for weight and 25th for height. But 60th for head circumference lol!!! right where he has been pretty much.

On Monday!
He is doing everything he should except rolling over. He can stand - even hold himself up with one hand standing. He can sit by himself on a soft surface, without leaning on anything. On hard surfaces, he sometimes can lean on his hands. He LOVES the bebepod.

on his 5 month birthday
As you can see, he can hold his feet, hold and grab just about anything and everything! His aim is getting better. He can move himself in circles. And of course EVERYTHING goes in his tiny little mouth. Fingers are still number 1, but toys, noses, burp cloths, teethers, washcloths... all are a close second!

But the kid will. not. roll. over. He has rolled front to back about 4 times, and back to front once the other day. But he just wants to either hold himself up to look around or kick his feet and wave his hands. Doesn't care to see what it is like on the other side!

right after he rolled back to front the first time

This kid is soooo happy. All the time unless he is hungry or wet. The best is when he laughs <3 We are giving him rice cereal but his lovely pooping issues returned so we switched to oatmeal. He has been eating fruits, and we are starting veggies tomorrow! He has LOVED everything so far. This kid has always been an eater lol

21w5d sitting

Now if he would only roll over!!!

Slacking Again...

I still find it almost impossible to find 15, 30 minutes a day to sit down and write a blog post. I have so much to post about and a giveaway I need to post by Friday. But during the day, I am usually holding a now 4 month! old. When he goes for naps, I do the laundry, dishes, etc. He only sleeps for 20 to 30 mins and a lot of that is while he is laying on me lol!! Plus worrying about him and anticipating him waking up is always on the back of my mind so I just can't concentrate. I should at least write SOMETHING when he is sleeping, though, so I have the start. Never get anything done in one shot! Then at night I am soo exhausted that I can't even think. And since it is my only uninterrupted time, I need to send e-mails and reply on message boards and Facebook, stuff I can't do while holding my wiggle worm!!

4 Month pic. Rare moment where he was still - but you can see he was leaning forward!

So, I am still trying but failing. Next week my parents will be visiting and the week after we will be in Disneyland so my time is even more limited. I need to schedule posts, lol, yeah right. I have an event coming up in Sept, and I don't have any sponsors because I want to have more current content up... it is an endless cycle!!!

Enough whining, here is another picture of my handsome boy!

Doing what he loves most - putting as many fingers in hid mouth as he can!!!

OK OK one more!!!

His Woodloch souvenir!

CLOSED - Radical Review Wednesday: Seventh Generation Diapers Review and Giveaway

It has been a milestone week in our household! Friday was E's 3 month checkup. He weighed in at 11 lbs 15 oz and is up to the 27th percentile! Woo hoo! On Sunday he rolled over from front to back, twice! I also have noticed that his size 1 diapers have gotten tighter, and he is leaking out of them a bit more. So a bag of Seventh Generation Free & Clear diapers in size 2 arrived at the perfect time!

The first thing I noticed about them was the lack of color. They look very natural and are not full of cute cartoon characters. I was surprised at how soft they were - not as soft as some other brands but definitely softer than some I have tried. And no gross chemical smell. The diapers fit Baby E. perfectly and did not leak overnight! Really, the only thing i didn't like was the Velcro - I love that it is long, but that means it gets tucked behind the baby's body and is hard to open.

About Seventh Generation diapers: Free & Clear diapers do not include chlorine processing, fragrances, latex and petroleum based lotions. In an effort to contribute less overall landfill waste and continue to ensure a premium standard of absorbency, the new Free & Clear diapers have been redesigned with a lighter-weight core. With processed chlorine-free wood pulp in Free & Clear diapers, Seventh Generation also makes certain that no chlorine is released into the environment during the totally chlorine-free (TCF) whitening process of the diapers and training pants.

Don't forget - the $2 coupon is still available!
